Wines of Ischia - A thousand-year old story

The technique of terracing with dry walls made of hand-worked stones (such as green tuff, found nowhere else in the world) has favoured the conquest of impermeable areas with special microclimates. These are the so-called Parracine.

The wines of Ischia are appreciated for their versatility and distinctive character. The most important varieties are

  1. Biancolella: A delicate, floral white, perfect for summer aperitifs.
  2. Forastera: Another typical white, with a fruity flavour and a slightly bitter aftertaste.
  3. Piedirosso: A full-bodied and robust red, ideal for meat dishes.

Each variety reflects the uniqueness of the Ischia soil, enriched with volcanic minerals that give the wines a special and unmistakable note.

Cenatiempo - Wine and Food Tasting

A beautiful winery that still retains an old-world charm. The vineyards are terraced and from there you can enjoy a breathtaking view
of the Gulf of Naples, Capri and Vesuvius. The view from the vineyard alone would be worth the experience, but the journey has only just begun.

First we visit the ancient wine cellar, which is truly evocative, and then, guided by tales of peasant customs and old wine-growing techniques wrested from the oblivion of time, we arrive at the table, under a shady pergola: wine tasting, accompanied by simple but tasty bruschetta with local products: tomatoes, cured meats and cheeses expertly paired with glasses of
"Biancolella' and 'Per e Palummo'. For more information and to book your wine and food experience, visit: Cantine Cenatiempo
